Big Representation From Dunn Stable At Grafton (Tuesday)

By John Schell

Murwillumbah trainer Matthew Dunn will send a strong team to Grafton on Tuesday where he has a number of leading contenders spread across four races.

Dunn will have last start winner Flame Tree Star ($2.70 favourite on TAB) in the Team Aidan Mothers Day Markets At The Racecourse 2YO Handicap (1106m) with Ben Looker taking the ride.

Flame Tree Star finished third on debut at Grafton, before Looker combined with the filly at her only other start when she won at the track last time out.

Dunn will be well represented in the Exclusive Trophies Country Boosted Maiden Handicap (1106m), headed by Spiritchaser ($3.10 fav), which will be ridden by Matthew McGuren.

Spiritchaser is having her first start for Dunn, having previously raced in the John Sargent stable, for who he finished in the placings in five of 10 starts.

Spiritchaser has had two trials since joining the Dunn stable, and scored in the latest of them at Deagon by a big margin.

Dunn has three other runners lining up against Spiritchaser, with Casebolt ($4.20) being ridden by Kyle Wilson-Taylor, More Elements ($11) being partnered by Jake Bayliss, and Torque Of Dreams ($17) having Damien Thornton aboard.

Casebolt comes into the event on the back of a last start placing at Grafton, while More Elements is resuming from a spell. Torque Of Dreams has been placed in one of her three starts.

Dunn has two gallopers set to start in the Something Special Weddings Benchmark 58 Handicap (1410m). Introvert ($16) will line up with Bayliss to ride, while Desert Mist ($10) will be ridden by Looker.

Introvert is a two-time winner from 14 starts and they were both at Ballina this time last year.  He’s had one run back from a spell and finished sixth at Grafton when beaten just over four lengths.

Desert Mist has been below his best of late, but has been tackling tougher grade and this looks more suitable for him.

Dunn rounds out the day when Bertinelli ($6) lines up in the Winters Air Pty Ltd Country Boosted Class 1 Handicap (1181m) with McGuren aboard.

Bertinelli has only won one race from 11 start but ran second at Grafton when second-up from a spell.
