Mitchell Beer - in the zone off a recent Albury treble - provides the punting incentives at Wagga Wagga’s TAB meeting on Saturday where emerging trial winners and the money trail is vital.
Beer has four contenders throughout the seven-race TAB meeting where promising second season local apprentice Hannah Williams is value with five rides, including Beer’s former Queenslander Dream Master, an impressive recent trial winner at Wagga Wagga.
“It was really nice work after he disappointed me resuming and while he’s a seven-year-old, two wins at Doomben and city placings are the strongest form lines in this race and blinkers might be the key,” Beer offered.
“He was with the Edmonds stable up there, the winning form is a while back, but that trial is encouraging and blinkers back on.
"He’s had two trials and the one run off a long spell. At that age likely it takes them a while longer to find form.
“He has the big weight but with Hannah’s claim he’s still well in as a six-race winner.”
The Doomben and Eagle Farm form is impressive, especially after his fast win in a Wagga trial.
Dream Master’s 64kg has been reduced by Hannah’s 3.5kg claim and vitally the gelding, who races on-pace, has drawn the inside barrier in the Jupiter Motor’s Ladies’ Day Cup (1200m).
“My best on the day is Tullaghan (race 2); he’s back to a maiden after second in a much stronger Class 1 at Albury. He's a three-year-old with upside.
“The horse that beat him was impressive (Stratum’s Reward) and it had previously won a Pakenham maiden, they invariable have depth.
“This gelding has only had the two starts off a trial, progressed every time, he’ll win races.”
Stablemate Hot Trim is resuming in an earlier maiden but also won a barrier trial on the same day in smart time. Significantly in the same race so did debut runner Secret Enclosure.
At present Wagga Wagga is rated a soft 6 in fine weather, with the rail out 9m from the 1400m to the winning post, and True the remainder.
