Barrett All In For Stint With Joseph Jones Team (Cootamundra Sunday)

By Graeme White

She's All In could provide a timely welcome to apprentice jockey Jake Barrett when she contests the Cootamundra Cup (1600m) on Sunday

Barrett has linked with the Canberra based Barbara Joseph, Paul and Matt Jones operation for an initial three months and will kick-off with the stable at the feature meeting where She's All In is rated an $8 chance (NSW TAB).

Barrett still claims 1.5 kilograms in the country and will reduce the weight of She's All In to a competitive 55 kilograms.

The mare has been leading in her recent starts and made the speed when a last start fifth at Canberra last week.

Trainer Matt Jones said Barrett had plenty of experience on his side and would ride four horses for the stable on Sunday.

“He is a very good rider and we want to give him some good opportunities to get going around this area,” he said.

“She's All In has been racing well and should be competitive and Zelago should also run well on his first-up second.”

The Joseph-Jones team won the inaugural $50,000 Legend Of The South at Moruya on Friday with Belleistic Kids with stable jockey Quayde Krogh aboard.

Queanbeyan trainer Nick Olive is looking to capture his first Cootamundra Cup with the top weight Invincible Dash.

The galloper – a winner of more than $215,000 similar to Shes All In – is coming back to his right level, according to Olive.

"This is his right type of race and the distance is also ideal,” Olive said.

“He has been racing well enough to be in the finish on what he has done his past few starts.”

Ruban Bleu has been placed in the Narrandera and Forbes Cups and is due for a change of fortune after a last start fourth at Canberra.

The gelding can unleash a powerful finish and is likely to be giving his rivals a start.

“He just needs the luck and the long straight will suit,” his trainer Matthew Dale said.

Meanwhile, in a fitting and timely send-off regular race starter Mick Donoghue will start his final meeting at Cootamundra where he and his family have a strong association.

Donoghue, who also officiates at harness racing meetings, wanted to finish at Cootamundra and the final race will see him bow out fittingly in a race named after his late father.

Former premiership winning jockey Andrew Bloomfield has stepped into a starting role with the Southern Districts.
