After a long, hot summer, Armidale Jockey Club is back on track to stage their Armidale Cup meeting on Sunday 1st March.
The drought forced the Club to transfer all meetings to other courses during the summer with their track too dry for racing.
However, following some long-awaited rain in recent days, Cup Day will remain at Armidale.
"Rod Watt (Club Chairman), Jim Dedes (Secretary) and I, watched a horse gallop over the course proper and there were no problems," said Shane Cullen, Chief Steward of Hunter & North West Racing Association.
"The course is now back in good shape and we're confident the Cup will be run at Armidale next month."
