Racing in the best form of her career, Kappy’s Angel can take another step towards confirming her status for the Newhaven Park Country Championships with a win at Wagga on Tuesday.
Kappy’s Angel has won two of her past three starts with the latest showing she was a definite contender winning by more than seven lengths at Wagga.
The lightly raced mare was luckless when blocked for a run at her previous start when seventh behind Invertational at Wagga.
Invertational won her next start at Wagga – the same day Kappy’s Angel destroyed her rivals over 1300 metres on January 5.
She stays at a similar distance of 1200 metres for the Benchmark 58 where she is the $2.30 favourite for apprentice jockey Jett Stanley.
The Albury based apprentice recently won the Ted Ryder Cup at Wagga aboard Another One for Kappy’s Angel’s trainer Gary Colvin.
The trainer expects Kappy’s Angel to figure again despite facing a stronger line-up.
“She will go to the Country Championships providing she keeps pleasing us,” he said.
Colvin has won the past two SDRA Country Championship qualifiers with stable star Another One.
The SDRA qualifier worth $150,000 will be held at Albury on Saturday, February 25, while the SERA race – for which Invitational is likely to start in – will be run at Moruya on Sunday, March 5.
Kappy’s Angel only made her debut as a late season four-year-old in May of last year and has now started six times for two wins and as many thirds.
Dalroshio is well placed on her recent efforts which include a win at Wodonga and a fourth behind Invitational at Wagga on December 23.
The top weight Brothers Of Antrim is capable of improving on his first-up run, while Willybeafactor resumes racing after winning two of his past three starts prior to a spell with his best runs having been on wet tracks.
Controversial Miss has been extremely consistent with a win and three seconds at her past four starts.
Meanwhile, three last start winners with superior form to their rivals should fight out the finish of the Class 1 (1300m).
Burrandana finished full of running to win at his second start at Wagga, while Zouatica scored on debut at the Sapphire Coast.
Burrandana shared favouritism with Amarantz ($3) which won her latest appearance at Canberra as a short priced favourite.
