Apprentice Billy Owen has taken out the first heat of the Racing NSW Rising Star Series run at Goulburn on Tuesday (8 October).

Owen partnered with Just Two Vees ($5.50) for trainer Jamie Thomsen to secure the early lead in the 2019/20 Series.

The pair beat Cejay Graham on Isadora Twinkle ($6.50) and Qin Young abord Tribuna ($19).

A total of 24 heats have been scheduled, culminating with a Series Final at Hawkesbury on Thursday, 30 July 2020.

Heat 2 is scheduled for Kembla Grange on Thursday 17 October.
