Racing NSW Stewards today concluded an inquiry into complaints lodged against licensed trainer Chris Heywood, relative to his conduct during trackwork at Murrumbidgee Turf Club on the morning of Monday, 10 June 2019.
Evidence today was taken from Mr Heywood and licensed stablehands Mr D Burnet, Ms B Heywood, Mr S. Grimson and Ms C. McGoldrick.
Mr Heywood was found guilty of a charge under AR228(b) for engaging in improper conduct for actions he made at trackwork on the morning of Monday, 10 June 2019, in that he did ride his mount forward in an aggressive manner making contact with and/or attempting to make contact with the horses ridden by B. Heywood and D. Burnet on several occasions, in an attempt to frighten and intimidate both horse and rider; conduct the Stewards deemed to be improper.
After considering submissions on penalty, Stewards imposed a fine of $2,000 and further, Mr Heywood’s licence to ride trackwork was suspended for a period of four (4) months, effective immediately.
Mr Heywood was advised of his rights of appeal.
