The form Rosehill stable of co-trainers Lee and Cherie Curtis will be out to maintain the winning momentum when they send a pair of gallopers to Mudgee on Sunday.
A steady stream of winners has been flowing for the husband and wife team of late, and they will aim to start the Mudgee meeting with a win when Taipan Legend contests the opening event of the day, the Eduardo Cojuangco Jr Memorial Maiden Plate (1400m).
“He’s a very nice horse,” Lee Curtis said of Taipan Legend.
“He’s a Written Tycoon three-year-old that has only had seven starts and he’s been placed a couple of times.”
Taipan Legend resumed from a spell and had his first start for the Curtis stable when eighth of nine of the Kensington Track at Randwick after leading.
He followed that up with a second at Hawkesbury before failing at Gosford and then improving with a last start fourth at Newcastle.
“The Hawkesbury run was very good,” said Curtis.
“Bon Ho, who raced Classique Legend and Celestial Legend, is his owner, and we’ve told him he goes pretty well.
"He’s just a horse that doesn’t like the whip that much so we’ll be telling Aaron Bullock on Sunday about that.
“It looks a nice race for him if things go his way.”
The Curtis duo will also be represented by Tears For Fears in the Gooree Farm Accommodation Class 2 Handicap (1400m), with Koby Jennings taking the ride.
“She’s a mare that we have a bit of time for,” Curtis said of Tears For Fears.
“She won at Gosford in her initial campaign and she ran well in city grade late last year.
“She’s had two runs since resuming from a spell and finished eighth in each of them.
“This looks like a race she can improve in and she’s drawn well in the inside barrier.”
Bullock looks to have a number of nice chances at Mudgee, including the Kris Lees prepared Thundering Soul in the Your Song At Gooree Park 2YO Handicap (1100m).
Thundering Soul was a debut winner at Scone before finishing a close-up eighth in the Inglis Millennium before being spelled.
