Vale Mrs Nerrida Clancy

The NSW Racing Industry is mourning the passing yesterday of Mrs Nerrida Clancy, wife of Leeton trainer Peter Clancy, following a long illness.

Nerrida, 73, was honorary secretary of Leeton Jockey Club for more than 20 years and was much-loved in the industry.

Racing NSW Steward, John Davidson, said it is a sad day for the Riverina area and those that had come into contact with Mrs Clancy.

"Nerrida was an amazing woman. Peter Clancy is well-known as a champion mentor of apprentices having had the likes of Tim & Brad Clark, Nick Heywood, Kristen Smart and John Kissick go through the ranks.

"But Peter often said it was Nerrida that was the backbone of the Clancy family environment that so welcomed these apprentices. She will be missed terribly."

A funeral service will be held for Mrs Clancy commencing at 11am on Wednesday, 24th January 2018, at the Anglican Church in Leeton.

Mrs Clancy is survived by husband Peter, and children Tracey, Tanya, Robert and Greg.
