The NSW Racing Industry sends out its condolences to family and friends of former racehorse trainer, Mr John Wenman, who passed away on Monday (28th May).
John Wenman, 81, prepared his team at Canterbury Park before moving to Rosehill Gardens once the track was closed to training.
Mr Wenman's best horse was Rubicall with whom he won the 1998 Group 3 Sweet Embrace Stakes at Rosehill when ridden by John Powell, before she competed in Prowl's Golden Slipper Stakes.
The mare won the 1999 Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes at Randwick with Mick Dittman aboard before she was runner-up in the Group 2 Surround Stakes at Warwick Farm.
Rubicall went on to become a handy broodmare, producing, among others, Divine Calling who won the 2013 Group 2 Bill Stutt Stakes at Moonee Valley and was runner-up in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas the same year.
