New Appointments To Strengthen NSW Racing Industry

Minister for Racing Paul Toole has today announced that Michael Crismale has been appointed to the Racing NSW Board for a period of three years.

Mr Toole also announced the reappointment of Simon Tuxen and Anthony Shepherd AO to the Board for a further four years.

“Mr Crismale has extensive experience in sports administration, including as Chair of the Australian Turf Club, where he secured TV and digital rights agreements, helping the sport to reach wider audiences and boosting revenue,” Mr Toole said.

“He also supported the launch of The Championships in the Autumn Carnival. His continued commitment to the industry and extensive knowledge will make him a valuable addition to the board.”

In reappointing Mr Tuxen and Mr Shepherd, Mr Toole thanked them for their continuing contributions to the Racing NSW Board.

“Since Mr Tuxen and Mr Shepherd joined the board, we have seen strong industry growth, particularly in regional areas, and industry-leading innovations such as the introduction of the Everest and Kosciuszko races,” said Mr Toole.

Mr Toole acknowledged outgoing director the Hon Kevin Greene for his service to the Racing NSW Board. Mr Toole also announced:

  • Peter Buckman has been appointed and Peter Nugent reappointed to the Harness Racing NSW Board for four-year terms
  • John Rouse has been appointed to the Randwick Racecourse Trust for a term of four years
  • Anthony Lo Surdo SC has been appointed as Acting Tribunal on the Racing Appeals Tribunal

All appointments were subject to competitive selection processes, including publicly advertised expressions of interest and assessment by selection panels, and independent probity advice.
