Ms Johnstone’s role includes the management of the Investigations and Surveillance Unit, supervision of equine welfare investigations, liaising with external agencies, developing strategic integrity initiatives.
After having forged a career spanning 10 years with NSW Police specialising in criminal investigations as a Detective, Jacqueline Johnstone was appointed by Racing NSW to the position of Manager – Investigations and Surveillance in October 2019. Over the ensuing 3 years Ms Johnstone has gained a deep understanding of the Thoroughbred racing industry and importantly has developed a sound working relationship with a broad range of industry stakeholders.
Mr V’landys AM said:
“Jacqueline Johnstone has already proven herself to be a highly valued and proactive member of the Integrity Department, having worked closely with the former Chairman of Stewards, Marc Van Gestel in investigating a number of major cases and successfully prosecuting offences.
“The appointment follows a rigorous recruitment process with a number of high-calibre candidates who had extensive experience in policing.
“Jacqueline is one of the most conscientious and professional members of our staff. I have no doubt Jacqueline will continue to work closely with the Chairman of Stewards, Steve Railton, and other members of the Integrity Department to continue the high level of integrity and supervision which has made Racing NSW a world leader in this space.”
