Along with second placings at Warwick Farm and Muswellbrook, Anna finished the Series with 35 points, nine points clear of Kembla Grange apprentice Olivia Chambers.

Olivia Chambers jumps to equal leader in the NSW Apprentice Jockey Rising Star series

Olivia Chambers has joined Jake Barrett at the top of the Rising Star leaderboard after winning heat 4 on YOU’RE ON MUTE today at Gundagai.

Apprenticed to the Robert and Luke Price team at Kembla Grange, Olivia made today’s trip to the Snake Gully Cup Raceday worthwhile early with a comfortable win in the Class 1 Showcase Handicap for Wagga Trainer Darryl Burnett.

Sitting midfield throughout, Olivia easily found clear room at the 200m to sprint home and find the line strongly after a confident ride.

Maintaining a perfect record, You’re on Mute recorded her second win from as many starts, resuming today after winning her Maiden at Tumut in April earlier this year.

Dubbo apprentice Ronald Simpson ran second just over a length away riding Wolf Bay for his boss Clint Lundholm, after being held up in the straight and finishing quickly when he gained clear passage near the inside.

Teghan Martin riding Vaderzan was closing out wide to run 3rd, with Damon Budler 4th on the tiring Sharp Noise.

Olivia Chambers and Jake Barrett are now joint leaders in the Rising Star Series table on 9 points, with other heat winners Beany Panya and Millie Fitzgerald next placed both on 7 points.

The keenly contested apprentice race series heads North now, with the next two heats at Scone on November 20 and Coffs Harbour November 30.

Riding for Warwick Farm Trainer Bruce Cross on Calmer Karma, Beany held her mount for the right time to arrive on the inside in a driving finish from fellow Warwick Farm Apprentice Zac Lloyd riding Appetite For Risk for Trainer Bryce Heys.

Back to Back wins for Calmer Karma had a smiling Bruce Cross praise Beany for the well-timed ride, saying ‘the horse only has a very short sprint and she held her nerve perfectly to time the finishing run’.

3rd place went to Amy McLucas riding Yorokiri for Paul Perry, with Jett Stanley placing 4th on the favourite and last start winner Kadall for Team Snowden.

The 7 points for the win pushes Beany near the top of the leaderboard in the early series results, with early leader Jake Barret holding his place at the top of the table.

All eyes turn to Gundagai this coming Friday November 17, hosting the fourth round at its famous Snake Gully Cup race meeting.

A long delay ensued before the judge posted that the mare had done enough under Benjamin’s urging to share the spoils – a dead heat for first. Imprinted, ridden by Courtney Bellamy was a very close 3rd.

The two winning riders accrued 6 points each in the series for the dead heat, to sit equal 2nd on the ladder to 1st round winner Jake Barrett on 7 points. Hannah Williams is next on 5 points.
